INFLUENCER DIARIES

SOCIAL MEDIA GUIDE

BACKGROUND & SETTING

When taking a photo for your social media, ensure you have an attractive background - whether this be a simple white wall or a fun outdoor setting. Keeping the a background of an image tidy is highly important when putting yourself or a brand across to others online. You do not have to be anywhere fancy or expensive, just somewhere aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

FOLLOW THE TRENDS!

Trends are trending for a reason, so use the Instagram explore page to see what other users and profiles are doing and inspire yourself through looking for new ideas! An example of this is the trend of influencers taking their pictures in supermarkets or corner shops with branded soft drinks as the setting, this became extremely popular! This can apply to any brand or company, for example a garden center using flower walls as a way to promote an Instagram opportunity for the younger audiences.

COVERAGE OF ALL PLATFORMS

To generate success on social media, you must ensure you are active on the majority of social platforms that are applicable to the company or brand. This is important to get noticed to different demographics.

TAGS AND BRAND AWARENESS

Essentially, tagging the brands in your images will heighten the chances of getting noticed and reposted. Having the ability to engage with your followers by tagging brands will assure demographics that you are willing to give vital information when posting, providing brand awareness and credibility.

SWITCH IT UP - APPEAL TO YOUR AUDIENCE

Try not to be repetitive when posting, make sure you have a variety of different images on your page and do not post the same image twice! Showcase originality and differences between your images, this could include the following ideas:

- posing & angles

- outdoor & indoor

- outfits, casual or going out

- background settings

- facial selfies, full body length or mirror  selfies

- looking at the camera or away from the camera

- sitting down & standing

- smile or serious

- action shots

FOLLOWER ENGAGEMENT

The pinnacle of striving for success online, is paying close attention to how your followers engage with you and what content they ultimately want to see.

Switching your Instagram to a business profile setting will enable you to record your insights, this will include the impressions, reach, activity, audience engagement, followers, statistics of the page and overall interaction. This setting will really benefit your online presence and allow you to focus on what your followers engage with most, which you can then apply to your upcoming posts in the future. Furthermore, this will lead you to have an increased following, amount of likes and comments, which will essentially expose your page to gain publicity. However, you do have to have your page set to public as a private page can lose the ability to reach out to people online and the business setting will not become enabled.

ALWAYS REMEMBER THE IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL MEDIA TO GAIN CONSUMERS IN A BUSINESS

The amount of people who liked the picture

They amount of people who commented on the picture

Profile visits - number of individuals who have looked through your profile after seeing the image

POST INSIGHTS

The number of Instagram users who sent the image to another person via direct messaging

Number of people who saved the image to their saved folders

Reach - number of unique users that have seen the post

Follows - number of people that followed the profile after seeing the image

Paying close attention to the insights on any social media platform can completely change the way you use a social media site. Looking at this on a weekly basis and posting frequently can determine where you improve or tweak. For example, you may find that posting on a Thursday receives more engagement than posting on a Friday. Going forward, you would then focus on getting your content posted on Thursdays as that day reveals more online traffic for the company or individual profile.
